1. What’s your story? Where are you from?
Hi! I’m Zove, from Vietnam. Currently, I work as a graphic designer based in Singapore. I had finished 4 years of interior design back in Vietnam and subsequently, I came to Singapore in 2016 to study Design communication. Drawing comes to me very naturally and I keep practising to make myself more creative and passionate.
2. Tell us about your aesthetic.
I love to play with colours and textures to make my artwork eye-catching, also to bring out feeling and emotion. Art is a wonderful way of communication without words and I am on the lifelong journey to discover it.
3. What is your favourite medium and why?
My favourite medium is using the iPad. It’s so convenient and helps me to achieve better quality. Even though digital is my main medium, I still draft ideas on paper first.
4. What is your artistic process like?
To keep myself creative, I constantly find new ideas for my illustration. I will pick a random theme, word and object to work on it every now and then. It’s very challenging to me but it’s an awesome way to make my artwork interesting and refreshing.
5. Who and/or what inspires your work?
I love the illustrator community on IG. Every day, I see tons of awesome artwork and challenges there that inspire me to keep creating and learning. Artists that inspire me are Manon Louart, Janice Sung, Tímea Lipčíková.
6. What role does art play in your life? How does it change the way you view the world?
Art makes my life wonderful. I enjoy every single moment that other people overlook.
7. Where did you study?
I studied Interior design in Vietnam and Design communication at Lasalle College of the Arts Singapore.
8. Where do you see yourself in five years?
To become a freelance illustrator and work on more projects that will grow our community. Also, to travel around the world to find new inspiration for my art.
9. What about in ten?
I don’t know. Life doesn’t always go the way we plan. Anything can happen in 10 years time, I just want my life to always be full of joy and passion.
10. What do you hope to achieve with your art?
I want everyone who sees my art to feel a sense of happiness and positivity.
11. Now, tell us a little more about you as a person: what is your favourite food?
