1. What’s your story? Where are you from?

I am Asuka Kuramochi. I am from Japan. We shifted the viewpoint, develop a work conscious of the addition and change of the image. By blurring, breaking, rebuilding, we are thinking about how to look at things and new aspects.

2. Tell us about your aesthetic.

I am conscious of the prejudice of the work by making margins.

3. What is your favourite medium and why?

Plants are often used to make pressed flowers. Looking closely at leaves and petals it is interesting because there are patterns like lines and dots. It is fun to be able to feel the time to change over time.

4. What is your artistic process like?

I try to make a work that imagination expands by using plants and creating abstract things.

5. Who and/or what inspires your work?

Shuntaro Tanigawa.

6. What role does art play in your life? How does it change the way you view the world?

For me, art gives us imagination and fun. Things that will change everyday.

7. Where did you study?

Basically it is self taught. Since I work for a design company, I often learn there, but there are many opportunities to learn by seeing various works.

8. Where do you see yourself in five years?

I am happy if I can increase the range of expression methods by doing various experiences.

9. What about in ten?

I would be happy if I became a person who could express with my viewpoint of imagining / thinking, I think that it would be interesting if I had an idea that I can not imagine by myself.

10. What do you hope to achieve with your art?

I want to have my daily life feel a little more interesting through my work. By having you feel as much as you can imagine. I’d be happy if more people think that everyday life will change depending on yourself.

11. Now, tell us a little more about you as a person: what is your favourite food?

Tofu, rice.

12. Favourite book?

A book called “Brooch” by Mr. Yoshihide Watanabe and Shuntaro Tanigawa (19) Shuntaro Tanigawa (Introduction to famous Japanese taste). (I also like picture books, manga and illustrations.)

13. Favourite genre of music?

I often listen to the songs that have a tempo and sounds that will raise my mind without deciding genre much. When your feelings overlap with the flow of songs, your mood rises.

14. What are your hobbies?

Plant observation. Because there are four seasons in Japan, I like to see plants while feeling the season.

15. If you weren’t an artist, what would you be?

I think that will not change. I think that it is unnecessary to write a title as an artist to express something.
